This bright, warm room features one of the finest examples of pressed zinc ceilings in the house. Complete with a Victorian open fireplace, cosy leather sofas and a large collection of magazines, books (including paperback book exchange), games, CD's , DVD's and SKY TV, the lounge is the perfect place to curl up and relax or to chat with other guests. A fridge, tea/coffee making facilities and complimentary port are available in the lounge.

Savour our sumptuous home cooked breakfast in the peace of your own dining room. A delicious and varied breakfast includes home-made muesli, yogurts and jams, freshly squeezed juices, seasonal fresh fruits and a selection of cooked dishes using fresh produce from our own kitchen garden, local produce and free range eggs. Our own high quality extra virgin and infused olive oils add a special flavour to our dishes.
Built in 1915 by the Tizzard family, The Olive Grove is a fine example of a traditional New Zealand bay villa.
During the early and mid 20th century, the property operated as a dairy and cheese factory. Remnants of the old cow sheds and milk churns are evident as you stroll around the grounds.
The house was fully restored in 2004, when the second floor was added and the garden was re-landscaped. All restoration aimed to complement the existing charm of the house, introducing modern day comforts whilst retaining the numerous original features and overall character of the property.
Of particular note are the beautiful leadlight windows and ornate pressed zinc ceilings, a feature seen in many bay villas throughout New Zealand, but not seen in any other property on the Banks Peninsula.
The garden is full of rhododendrons, camellias and fragrant climbers and herbs. Where possible, we use fruit and vegetables from our own kitchen garden to prepare breakfast, and all our cooking uses the high quality extra virgin olive oil grown on the property as well as a magnificent plum tree, apple and citrus orchard and kitchen garden.
